The recently held peace jirga in Kabul have once again raised hopes among the Afghans and international community of finding peace through 'other means'. The continuing military
stalemate and talks of exit have emboldened the Taliban who perceive the tide to be in their favour. In such a scenario, are the peace gestures by the Afghan government a way forward?
Will such peace initiatives lead to durable peace in Afghanistan? Will the recently concluded peace jirga provide a consensual framework of negotiations for the Afghans and international
community?
