Growing concerns about data privacy has led India to formulate a number of policies to
protect the privacy of its citizen and other stakeholders, as well as to support its goal of
becoming a digital and technologically-advanced economy. This paper assesses the various
data protection-related policies enacted by the country and highlights the contradictions
among the various policies.
