    308 : Looking Back and Ahead to India’s Next General Election

    India is likely to hold its next general election in early 2019. Predictions are perilous for Indian elections, but what can be said at this point is that the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is likely to find it difficult to match its performance in 2014 where it won a majority in parliament on its own. However, the BJP would still be the frontrunner to form the next government by virtue of being the party with the greatest chance of winning the largest number of seats, even if it falls short of a majority.
